Deputies keep busy with rash of violence and thefts

LA MIRADA- An unusual series of violent crimes and theft welcomed in the month of April including a fight that ended with the stabbing of four at Draft Picks April 2, and the rape of a teenage girl.

Friday April 1

3:00 a.m. Deputies are investigating the forcible rape of a teenage girl in a North La Mirada neighborhood north of Creek Park. The exact location is being withheld to protect the identity of the underage victim.

1:00 p.m. A bicycle theft was reported at the Li Apartment building on the Biola University campus at 13601 La Mirada Blvd.

1:30 p.m. A backpack and purse were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 14600 block of Roasecrans Avenue.

4:00 p.m. Work tools were taken from an unlocked vehicle was reported in the 14400 block of Watkins Drive.

4:38 p.m. An arrest for being under the influence of a controlled substance was made at the 76 Station at La Mirada Blvd and Ocaso Avenue.

9:30 p.m. A vehicle burglary was reported at the Holiday Inn at 14299 Firestone Blvd. A laptop computer, DVD player, and third row seat were taken.

10:00 p.m. A burglary was reported at Jim's Burgers at 13844 Imperial Hwy. Cash was taken from a game machine.

11:00 p.m. An arrest for possession of a controlled substance in the 15700 La Barca Drive.

Saturday April 2

7:56 p.m. Misdemeanor domestic violence was reported at the 76 station at Imperial Hwy and Valley View Avenue.

8:00 p.m. A theft from an unlocked vehicle was reported at L.A. Fitness, 15020 La Mirada Blvd.

10:00 p.m. Damage by taggers was reported at the Bank Of America at 12231 La Mirada Blvd.

Sunday April 3

12:00 p.m. A theft from a residence was reported in the 14300 block of Coolbank Drive.

6:30 p.m. A purse snatch was reported at Gateway Drive and Firestone Blvd.

7:30 p.m. A theft was reported at a residence in the 13100 block of Ocaso Avenue.

7:30 p.m. A residential burglary was reported in the 13200 block of Ocaso Avenue.

10:00 p.m. An armed robbery was reported at a residence in the 12800 block of Spindlewood Drive in the Green Hills neighborhood. The suspect known by the victim was detained by detectives on April 8 and was being held on a parole violation.

11:30 p.m. A theft of two televisions was reported at the Residence Inn by Marriott, 14419 Firestone Blvd.

Monday April 4

10:30 p.m. Felony vandalism (loss over $400) was reported in the 12900 block of Edwards Road.

Tuesday April 5

8:00 a.m. A theft was reported at La Mirada High School, 13520 Adelfa Drive.

4:30 p.m. A citizen found narcotics in the 14200 block of Gannet Street.

5:00 p.m. Domestic violence was reported in the 13500 block of Brazo Road.

Wednesday April 6

8:25 a.m. An attempted theft of a vehicle was reported at La Mirada High School.

4:00 p.m. A vehicle burglary was reported in the 15200 block of Ocaso Avenue. The vehicle's stereo was taken.

6:50 p.m. An arrest was made at La Mirada Blvd and Imperial Hwy for possession of a controlled substance.

7:30 p.m. Identity theft was reported in the 12900 block of Woodridge Avenue.

Thursday April 7

1:00 p.m. A cash machine was broken into in the 14500 block of Stage Road.

2:03 p.m. An arrest was made for being under the influence of a controlled substance at the Extended Stay America at 14775 Firestone Blvd.

4:08 p.m. A burglary to a business was reported in the 14800 block of Beach Blvd.

4:30 p.m. A vehicle burglary was reported at Clearman's Northwoods Inn, 14305 Firestone Blvd.

6:00 p.m. An arrest was made in the 14800 block of Rosecrans Avenue for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

9;10 p.m. An arrest for possession of a controlled substance in the 12700 block of Burgess Avenue.

Friday April 8

11:35 a.m. Tools were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at Home Depot, 12300 La Mirada Blvd.

8:05 p.m. An arrest at Imperial Hwy and La Mirada Blvd for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

9:45 An arrest was made in the 15000 block of Weeks Drive for possessing a controlled substance.

Saturday April 9

6:00 a.m. A bicycle theft was reported in the 16200 block of Eagleridge Court.

7:37 p.m. Domestic violence was reported in the 15700 block of Rosalita Drive.

8:00 p.m. A burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 15500 block of Ashgrove Drive. A backpack with clothing items was taken.

Sunday April 10

7:30 p.m. Vandalism was reported in the 15000 block of Watkins Drive.

7:30 p.m. Felony vandalism was reported in the 14700 block of Bora Drive.

8:30 p.m. A theft of auto parts was reported at the Rosebeach Apartments at 16124 Rosecrans Avenue.
