LA MIRADA- Investigators arrested a La Mirada man Thursday in connection to the fatal hit-an-run that killed a 90 year-old man crossing Valley View Avenue on March 24.
Jerry Garfield Laiblin, 68, a resident on Neartree Road, was taken into custody at 4:20 p.m. after the Blue Toyoya Camry described by witnesses was located by detectives checking area repair shops.
Jingyu Park, of La Mirada was struck as he was crossing Valley View Avenue at Adoree Street in an unmarked crosswalk by two motorists.
The first driver turned around to render assistance.
Deputies allege Laiblin was the second driver that hit Park' body as it lay in the roadway, dragging it 250 feet until the body became dislodged, then driving away without stopping.
Laiblin was released at midnight this morning after posting &50,000 bail.
Charges if any will be made after a review by the District Attorney's office in Downey.
