Sheriff's News: La Mirada crime down sharply during 2018 from 2017

with crime levels that remain down from 2017 highlighted by fewest reports of violent crime that have been seen in the 21st Century. 

Reports of crime received by deputies were down in all categories except for the two report incidents of arson this year compared to none in 2017. 

The FBI compiles crimes that are known as Part One crimes in eight categories from policing agencies across the nation.  La Mirada had an overall Part One crime total of 565 during the first eight months of 2018, down  16.4% from the 676 reported during the same period in 2017.

During the first eight months of 2018 there were 44 violent crimes reported in the city, a 34.3% drop from the 67 that were reported during the same period in 2017.

Reports of property crime received by deputies were also down from a year ago falling more than 14.4% through August 2018 to 521, down from 609 for the same period in 2018.
