Suspect wounded during gunfire exchange with police
BUENA PARK- A woman taken hostage during a failed bank robbery was rescued unharmed by SWAT officers Thursday afternoon in the 4500 block of Beach Boulevard.
A Buena Park police spokesman said the gunman was shot during the confrontation at a small branch of the Saehan Bank located in the Rite-Aid shopping center at Rosecrans Avenue and Beach Blvd.
A tense four hour stand-off concluded shortly after 3 p.m. after a Orange County SWAT team entered the bank where the bank manager was being held hostage by the suspect.
The gunman sustained serious injuries and two police officer had minor injuries and were treated by paramedics from the Orange County Fire Authority before being transported from the scene.
The suspect was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange and was in unknown condition.
No further information about the suspect was immediately available
