Slow speed pursuit ends in arrest of suspected DUI driver

LA MIRADA- A suspected drunk driver was arrested in a southeast La Mirada neighborhood Sunday night after leading deputies on a 45-minute chase that began 15 miles away in Lynwood.

The pursuit began as a deputy from the Century Sheriff's Station attempted to stop a man in a silver Mercedes Benz shortly after 9 p.m. that was driving recklessly and was suspected of being DUI.

La Mirada patrol units joined as the driver blew out three of his tires and continued on the vehicles' rims at about 10 mph, traveling east on Alondra Boulevard and into Buena Park.

After a five minute detour through a Buena Park, the man returned to La Mirada, and appeared to get lost  in the streets near the end of Alondra Blvd.

The suspected surrendered to deputies after making an apparent wrong turn and getting trapped in a cul-de-sac street  in the 15600 block of Fada Drive.
