Forecast: Record breaking heat to make way for chance of weekend rain

A mini heat-wave that broke records in several locations in the Los Angeles Basin will stick around one last day today before making way for another chance of rain this weekend and a return to season daytime highs.

Thursday's high of 91 at Fullerton Airport tied a record set in 1966, it was also 91 in the Whittier Hills, and a record smashing 92 at USC/Downtown Los Angeles, 98 at the Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale, and a scorching 100 at Whiteman Airport in Pacoima.

The normal daytime high for April 1 is 71 and a low of 53.

The weekend brings cooler weather and a chance of rain, courtesy of a weak cold front
that will make way for another warm-up on Monday.

Precipitation amounts on Saturday night and early Sunday should not exceed .10 inches locally.
