
Soggy, blustery conditions expected as early as late Friday through Monday
A series of late winter storms developing in the eastern Pacific is expected to move into the Los Angeles area late tonight or early Saturday that will make it feel more like January again, instead of the arrival of Spring.
There will be periods of moderate to heavy rain, and gusty winds of up to 30 mph. through Monday with rainfall totals near two inches.
A cold front associated with the first system was moving southward down the California coast Friday morning and is expected to arrive in the Los Angeles Basin late Friday or early Saturday.
NWS weather radar (Image above) at 7:30 a.m. Friday, was showing the coastal areas of California north of Marin County already receiving rain.
The first system brings a chance of rain throughout the day on Saturday, with expected rainfall amounts of about 1/4''.
The first system is a precursor to the main event, which arrives Sunday.
The second cold front will move in Sunday afternoon packing more of a wallop that could bring heavy mountain snowfall, and the strongest winds of the winter.
La Mirada can expect four to eight hours of moderate to heavy rain, dropping 1 to 2 inches of precipitation, gusty 25-30 mph winds, and a chance of thunderstorms Monday as cold, unstable air moves in behind the front.
The region may not have much time to dry out. Forecasters are tracking a possible third system that could arrive as early as Wednesday.
