Weekend forecast: Sticky and more thunderstorms possible

LA MIRADA- A thunderstorm unleashed a brief downpour on parts of La Mirada Friday morning as a low pressure system parked over Southern California continues to draw unstable tropical moisture into the area.

The pool at Splash! was closed for safety purposes Friday as the area was being hit by sporadic lightning strikes. No injuries were reported in the area.

The region will remain humid with a chance of brief showers and stronger thunderstorms through Sunday.

A gradual cooling trend will begin Saturday with a return to slightly below normal temperatures possible by early next week.

The high was 86 Friday in La Mirada. Fullerton Airport recorded .06 inch of precipitation Friday, .03 inch was recorded in the Whittier Hills.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny. South southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph. High 85.

Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south southeast. Low 61.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 am. Mostly sunny. South wind around 5 mph. High 78.
