LA MIRADA- The 2010-11 Broadway series season kicks off Friday night with the premiere of 'The Tale of the Allergist's Wife' at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.
The series of five shows is produced by McCoy Rigby Entertainment.
Written by Charles Busch and starring Marilu Henner recreating the role she performed in the very successful original Broadway run, the 'Tale' is a story of the wife of a philanthropic doctor going through a mid-life crisis.
Marjorie Taub's husband is absorbed in his charitable work and her children have left the nest, and constantly criticized by her mother, falls into depression after her long-time therapist passes away.
To escape Marjorie absorbs herself in art films, art galleries, and theatre, but these diversions fail to keep her from falling further into her funk.
Suddenly a flamboyant childhood friend (played by Henner) reappears in Marjorie's life.
The friend who has a top-of-the-world outlook becomes a permanent house guest and lifts Marjorie out of her blues and this enables Marjorie to turn her direction in life around.
