10 injured in Knott's coaster collision

BUENA PARK- Ten people were hospitalized Thursday night after a collision of roller coaster cars at Knott's Berry Farm.

The Orange County Register reports two cars on the 'Pony Express' ride collided about 8 p.m. after a car with nine passengers that just departed the loading area failed to pass over the first hill and rolled back into the loading area.

CNN reports the injured were taken to five area hospitals mostly with neck and back injuries.

The ride is closed while the cause of the malfunction is under investigation.
