CIF Poll: Matadores' drop to #7 spot

La Mirada coming off a 23-17 defeat last Thursday to the injury stricken La Habra Highlanders, the Matadores' (0-2) fell to the #7 spot in this weeks CIF Southern Section, Southeast Division poll after beginning the season ranked #1.

Santa Fe currently is ranked at top of the division. Within the league besides La Mirada, only Norwalk (0-2) makes the top ten at #8. La Serna (1-1) is at the #9 spot.

Shane Blood and Max Gama had touchdowns and Jacob Otero had a field goal for La Mirada against the Highlanders.

Shane Blood made 18 completes on 28 attempts for 138 yards last Thursday and Alex Munoz lead in rushing with 54 yards.

League standings show Bellflower (3-0) at the top, and the other six teams, all with (0-2) records are second or last place, whatever you prefer.

Friday night La Mirada will face California (0-1) after a costly 41-0 spanking at the hands of Rowland that saw their Senior QB Adam Contreras break his collarbone.

Sophmore QB Drew Castro will like face the Matadores' at Friday's game, which has a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at La Mirada.
