The low pressure trough that arrived Friday bringing the Southland relief from a week long heat wave is being pushed aside by a new high pressure system that is just beginning to build in it's place.
The marine layer will begin to retreat to near the coast and daytime highs will likely once again go above the average of 86 for late August.
One component that will be missing from last weeks miserable heat wave is humidity that was being pumped northwest from the Sonora desert pushing dew points well into the 60's.
Monday the high temperature in La Mirada was 74 after an overnight low of 56.
