NWS Special Weather Statement indicates heat to remain through Saturday

Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Oxnard issued a statement Thursday evening that our current hot weather will remain through Saturday.

The high pressure system siting over the Southwestern U.S. will begin to weaken and move on by Sunday and will be replaced by a weak trough that will bring some cooling.

A day or two later a second stronger low-pressure system that will swing down the coast dropping temps into the 70's and a deepening marine layer that will see late night and early morning low clouds and fog well into the basin interior and valleys much of the week.

The high Thursday was 88 following an overnight low of 57. Averages for Sept. 2 are 86/63.

For La Mirada High fans attending the Matadores season opener tonight it should be a nice comfortable 75 degrees at kick off and no lower than 70 by the games' conclusion.
