Deputies descend on Foster Park neighborhood searching for felony suspect

La Mirada-  Deputies locked down a Foster Park neighborhood for about 20 minutes late Monday in an unsuccessful attempt to locate a man that fled from an injury accident in nearby South Whittier.

Norwalk Station received a 911 call at about 10:37 p.m. of a felony ( when a person is left injured) hit-and-run accident at Leffingwell Rd. and Valley View Av in South Whittier.

A witness that followed the suspect stated the man abandoned the white pickup truck used in the crime in the roadway in front of the Juan Pollo near Imperial Hwy. then fled west on foot.

The witness told deputies he last saw the suspect in an industrial complex on Marquardt next to Jim's Burgers running towards either Ramhurst Drive or Duffield Ave in the 'dead-end's'.

Close to 15 patrol deputies descended on the area and quickly organized a ground search of the area with a Sheriff's Air-unit overhead to provide support.  The search was unsuccessful.

The truck driven by the suspect was not stolen, but it was unregistered with the last known owner residing in San Bernardino.

Injuries at the accident site were reported to  be not life-threatening,

CHP is handling the investigation.
