LA MIRADA- Gas prices at many local retailers were pealed back a penny or two Wednesday after prices went over $4.00 at several locations after running up 45 cents in the past month.
The Mideast unrest that fueled oil supply fears has been tempered by a sudden drop in demand in Japan which has put it's economy in a virtual stand-by while dealing with several ongoing quake related emergencies.
Cook's Chevron at the I-5 and Valley View Avenue had peaked at $4.04 and the Shell Station at La Mirada Blvd and Imperial Highway at $4.00 on Tuesday.
That same Shell dealer lowered their price to $3.99 on Wednesday, with the other dealers along Imperial Highway cutting the price two cents including $3.95 across the street at the 76 station and $3.93 at both Chevron and 76 at the corner of Valley View Avenue.
The lowest price in town can be found at the ARCO station at Valley View Ave and Alondra Blvd at $3.83, and nearby in Buena Park at the EZ Gas at Valley View and Orangethorpe regular is $3.79.
According to the AAA the regional average price for regular is $3.95, which is still 4 cents higher than a week ago.
